8 Weeks Old!

Madison is 8 weeks old today! I can't believe how big she's getting! She is now pretty efficient at holding her head up for the most part along with a few bobbles here and there. She is very attentive (we call her nosy). She has to be looking at everything at all times. She loves to look out windows and look at lights. She follows her toy rattles from side to side and loves to just lay there and look at them. She's jabbering a lot more lately as well along with those smiles every now and then.
She had a great night last night, sleeping from 9:30 until 2:30am then feeding and then sleeping again until 6:30. It's great that she had a wonderful night last night because the previous 2 or 3 weren't so great. Let's just say that Sunday night, Mom spent the night in the recliner with Madison all night long just so she would stop screaming. We've also had some issues with the breastfeeding lately. For the past several days she would scream and cry every time she would start breastfeeding. That would lead into only about 5 or 6 minutes of eating which wasn't enough for her. Hopefully that is past because yesterday she did much better. I don't know what was going on with her, but I hope it's over.
Anyway, Happy 8 Weeks Madison!!
Here are some pictures I took of Madison and her new "Build a Bear" bunny named Floppy that we made her at our last venture to Springfield.

Fresh Air

Since the weather here was absolutely beautiful this past weekend we let Maddie get a little fresh air. She thoroughly enjoyed it. She just kept looking around everywhere and took it all in. She loved it when the wind would blow and would just throw her head back and close her eyes. It was priceless!!

Our Little Chunker!

We took Madison to the Dr this afternoon because for the past week or so I've noticed a red rash getting worse on the back of her neck, shoulders and now spreading to her face. I figured it wasn't anything to worry about, however being the overprotective mother I decided it would be better to get it looked at and know for sure. The Dr. said that it was a typical newborn rash and was basically caused by sensitive skin and that it was very common. I think she gets her sensitive skin from her father! They said to try some Eucerin lotion on it and that it's nothing to worry about. So, that made us feel better. We also learned that our little angel is packing on the pounds. She weighed in at a whopping 9 lbs 15.5 oz today! She's most certainly eating well! In about 2 weeks she goes back to the Dr for her
2 month checkup where she will be getting her first round of shots...her mother is NOT looking forward to that appointment!!

Bath Time!

Last night was bath time for Madison so we decided it was time to take some more pictures. She absolutely loves taking a bath. She just lays there and lets me pour the water over her. The thing she loves the most however, is when Daddy washes her hair and then afterwards rubs her head with the towel. She just starts making all these noises and moving her head back and forth. It's adorable!! Hopefully she continues to love the water and we have a little water baby on our hands!

Playtime in the bouncy

Madison loves to sit in the bouncy chair and look at the lights and listen to the music. Whenever she's fussing, this is usually one place where she is content. She seems to really enjoy this.
She has been doing better over the past few days at night. She has been waking up about twice a night to eat so that's not bad at all. The only time she really gets fussy anymore is when she's having a tummy ache and gas problems...guess I can understand that one. Overall she's been doing great. She's been eating like a champ and gaining weight like crazy...starting to get a little double chin on her!!

Visit From Grandma and Grandpa S

This past Sunday and Monday Madison had a visit from Grandma and Grandpa Schnackenberg. They came down to visit and to give Chris and I a little time to go out to eat by ourselves. It was really nice to get out and sit down at a restaurant together again, however, I did feel very strange without our little girl. Madison enjoyed her visit and talked and talked with her Grandparents. I have no idea what she was telling them, but hopefully it was all good :)

All Dolled Up!

Madison had her first experience with church here in Rolla this past Sunday. Of course, she decided to expel gas and poop at the absolute quietest times during the service. I went and changed her diaper and it wasn't 5 minutes later she pooped again! It was lovely!
She now has it in her head that she needs to be held to go to sleep. Last night started this all out. She would be crying and screaming when she was laying down but the minute you picked her up, the crying would stop and she would be looking around over your shoulder. Then she would fall asleep, you would put here down and the screams would begin. I think this is what you would call a spoiled baby. So we tried letting her "cry it out" and try to get her to cry herself back to sleep, well she outlasted us. Eventually she did end up going back to sleep, but that all ended about 5:30 this morning. It's lasting today as well. Today she won't even nap without crying to be held. I'm just so glad this got started!!! Hopefully we can break her of this VERY soon!!

Smile

Madison had her first real smile on Monday, March 9. Of course she will never smile when the camera's out. Here are a few shots from today's little photo session by Mom.

The Big Day!

Our family had a big day today. Madison was baptized and Chris became a member of the Lutheran Church. We were very blessed to have most all of our immediate family there for the day. After the church service we had a family dinner at Chris's parents house which was a wonderful way to celebrate. Madison was the best behaved baby evder today. She slept through the whole church service even when the Pastor poured the water on her head. She also got to meet her aunts, uncles and cousins. Thank you again to everyone who shared in this day with us!!

1 Month Old!

Madison is 1 month old today! We can't believe that she has grown so much already! It is definately hard to believe that 1 month ago I was going through all the joys of having a baby. Madison is definately getting a personality and it is quite evident that if she doesn't want to do something, she's not going to do it. She has a mind of her own...I wonder where she gets that from? She is a lot more active and actually loves being down on the floor whether on her back on her activity mat or during tummy time. Now, if we could just get her back to where she's sleeping better at night we'll all be happier.
