It's Shower Time!!!....Baby Shower that is :)

My sister in law's Laura and Michelle threw me a wonderful baby shower on the 27th of December. We had it at the Handel Haus in Cole Camp and everything was great!! There were games, cake, presents and visiting with the guests. I really enjoyed the day and I'm very appreciative for all they did and everyone who came. So here are a few pics from the big event :)

Christmas 2008

Chris and I started our Christmas holiday by spending time at the Davis house on the evening of Christmas Eve. We started out with a great dinner and then proceeded to tear into the presents. Granted, the kids did most of the tearing, but they seemed to really enjoy it!! It was really fun watching all of the kids ripping the wrapping paper off the presents and finding out what they had gotten for Christmas.
We then spent Christmas day at the Schnackenberg house. We started by going to church in the morning, then eating another wonderful Christmas meal and then tearing into more presents that afternoon. It was actually our little niece Emma who was doing most of the ripping. She seemed to have a blast ripping off the wrapping paper from everyone's presents :)
The holidays were great and we definately enjoyed spending time with family. We just wish there were a few more days to enjoy.
Next Christmas we'll have a 10 month old of our own to contend with...and we can't wait!!!

Gotta love that big old baby bump!!!

Smile for the camera :)

We had our 30 weeks Dr's visit today which included another ultrasound. One good thing....they say she's definately a girl, which we were counting on. They did a 3D ultrasound of her little face which is a little fuzzy but if you look close you can see her little nose, eyes, mouth and hands. We think she's awfully cute :) She is currently weighing in at a little over 3 pounds. The other thing that was funny was that the ultrasound tech said that our little girl has some whopper feet!! She said they are really long and skinny. Chris and I have absolutely no idea where she gets that little attribute since neither of us have long skinny feet, but oh well. The best news is that she has decided to turn and she is head down now so I was very grateful to hear that. The due date is still set for Feb 22, so only about 2 months to go!!!

The first picture is basically looking straight up her little nose...lovely I know :)

Isn't she a cutie??

Making Room For Baby!

Chris and I spent most of today.....making room for baby!! We decided it was time to start getting some things in order around the house to make some room for our little "newcomer." So, I guess what everyone says is right...when you become parents you do some sacrificing for your children. We moved all of our stuff out of our bedroom and have now officially taken over the quite smaller guest room. Our little girl will enjoy the roominess of our old bedroom. We started putting some stuffed animals on the shelves and moving some of the baby stuff we had into her new room. We also decided that as of yet we have really absolutely nothing for the baby. She has nowhere to sleep, nowhere to get her diapers changed and nowhere to put her clothes....so in a nutshell, we're not prepared :) We'll get there however. Chris is going to be building her crib over his Christmas break so that will be a start anyway. It's just so unreal to think that it's only 11 weeks until she's here!! We can't wait for that day, but it's also starting to get a little scary!

Moving Right Along - 27 weeks!

We had our 27 week Dr. visit yesterday and all is still going great! Our little girl's heartbeat was ticking right along and she was kicking right along as well. I don't think she really appreciates having things poking her from the outside. I had my glucose test yesterday and will know the results of that by the end of the week. The Dr. said that he didn't see any reason to think I would have a problem with gestational diabetes but it's a standard test that is done. They also did some other bloodwork and it turns out that I'm anemic. So, I have to add an iron pill to the regimen now. That could explain why I've been more tired, dizzy, pale and short of breath. So hopefully in a few weeks when the iron starts to kick in more I'll start to feel a little better. Other than that, things are going great!!! My next appointment is December 18th and we'll be having another ultrasound at that point!! We're very very excited to see what our little girl looks like now :)

24 Weeks!!

Chris and I had another Dr's appointment on Friday the 31st and everything was great again!! The heartbeat was really strong and the Dr. said that things are looking great!! My next appointment is Nov 24th and that is when I have to do my blood sugar test. Not exactly looking forward to that one!! Oh well. So, here's a pic of the 24 week belly....it's definately getting out there. Our little girl is still quite the kicker and getting stronger at it everyday it seems.

We took the opportunity to get away for a little while this weekend as well. After shopping a while in Springfield on Friday we went and stayed in Branson this weekend. Saturday we went down to the Landing and discovered they were having a Christmas parade through the little strip there. So, we enjoyed that for a while and then headed off to Silver Dollar City for the rest of the afternoon. It was beautiful weather and we had a great time together!! It was just really nice to get away by ourselves for a few days.

New Family Ride

Well, last week Chris and I made our first major purchase together...a new vehicle. I guess it's not BRAND new, but it's new to us. We bought a 2006 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer Edition. We figured that it was time to bite the bullet and get the "family car". Chris traded in his ever loved Jeep and this is what we got in return. We really love it and it has LOTS of extra room, so that's always good. Of course, we came close to not getting it....let's just say Chris and car salesmen don't exactly get along. Anyway, in the end we ended up with the vehicle and we really love it so far. Hopefully we get many years of service from it!!

Jump Around

Chris officially felt his little daughter kicking around today. When we got home from Cole Camp this evening I sat down at the computer to check my email and all that other good stuff. The entire time I was sitting there I was getting kicked like crazy by our little kickboxer. So I told Chris to come over and try to see if he could feel anything. Well, lets just say our little girl gave a huge kick right after Chris put his hand on my belly and that was all it took. Chris looked at me and smiled really big and said "I think I just felt her kick!!!" In his words "that felt really wierd!" After that I said to him...yeah, what do you think it feels like to me :) Anyway, as you can see, she's still kicking along in there and not slowing down at all!

The Little Kickboxer

Over the past few weeks I've really been able to feel our little girl kicking away inside me. I would have to say she's going to turn out to be a world champion kickboxer! She is constantly moving around and kicking up a storm. When I'm at work and sitting in the room with patients she's going like crazy. I'm beginning to think that during the day she's awake and very active and then in the evenings when I'm home is her naptime, because there is no movement from about 4pm until 9 or so. It is truly a wierd feeling, but it's really neat at the same time. I think Chris is straining at the bit to be able to feel her as well. Hopefully he won't have to wait too long!

It's A Girl!!!

It's official, we're having a GIRL!! We had our 19 week ultrasound today and everything is looking great. She weighed in at a whopping 9 oz!! She wasn't very cooperative with the picture taking however. She didn't really find it necessary to move around too much, therefore the pictures weren't that great. The tech said that she reminded her of Schroeder off of Charlie Brown leaning over his piano... she was laying there with her face down resting on the placenta with her back and butt in the air. Very interesting position. So, as of now, she's breech, but that can change within minutes and let's hope it does!! The official due date is now set for Feb 22.
The first picture is of our little "Schroeder". The left side of the picture is the head and the white curved "spots" at the top of the picture is the spinal column. The second picture is rather scary I think. It's a face forward shot and you can see the eyes, nose and mouth sort of looking at you sideways.

Dr's Appointment

Yesterday was another visit to the Dr. We got to hear the little one's heartbeat again and at this visit, it was definately loud and strong. The Dr. said that that's the heartbeat of a strong and healthy baby. We were very happy to be hearing that. This was also the first "normal" Dr's visit we've had, which was very nice. No more headaches, no more nausea and no more fatigue!! I feel normal again...for now :) So, I go back in three weeks on Sept 29 for my ultrasound. Hopefully the little one will cooperate and we'll be able to find out just exactly what's inside me. That's all for now...we'll keep you posted!!

Baptism in East Alton, IL

Chris and I spent Saturday and part of Sunday in East Alton, IL where my best friend Dusti, her husband Pete, and their daughter Stormie Mae live. This weekend Stormie was baptized and Dusti asked me to be her Godmother. So, we made the trip to East Alton and had a great weekend. Stormie did really well for being almost 3 and absolutely hating water being poured on her head. She didn't cry, but it was definately not on her top list of things to do that day! She is a wonderful little girl and she couldn't ask for better parents. As you can see in this picture, she wasn't really cooperating with the camera for pictures after the baptism. She was a little sleep deprived that day!

No More Headaches???

I don't know whether I should even be writing this or not, it may come back to haunt me, but here goes nothing. I haven't had a headache in 2 whole days!! I'm really hoping that my time with those lovely things is over. I do have an appointment with a neurologist for October 8, however, if the headaches stay away, I may be a bad patient and cancel that appointment. We'll just have to see how things go.
Other than that, I've been feeling really good. No nausea and my fatigue is definately much better. I'm actually starting to feel like a real person again!! I didn't think that day would ever come. Everyone kept telling me that the second trimester is so much better and I was really starting to doubt them, but so far so good and I just hope things stay this way for a while.
The frustrating part now is that I'm in between clothes. My regular clothes don't fit and the maternity stuff is a little too big. So, I'm either squeezed into shirts and pants or I'm floating around in them. It's interesting picking out what to wear for the day anymore.
Well, there's my little blurb for the day. I hope everyone has a safe holiday weekend!!! Keep thinking....NO HEADACHES :)

No More "Just the Two of Us"!!

Well, after around February 24th, Chris and I will no longer be the only ones in the Davis family. We found out June 19th that we're going to have a baby!! I am now 14 weeks pregnant and things are going great!! I had my last check up last Thursday and the Dr. said the baby's heartbeat is strong and healthy. In the beginning we (mostly I) were a little freaked out about having a baby. It's something we've both wanted, but it was just a little unexpected. Things are great now and we're really excited about this new adventure we're going on. I've been pretty sick and yucky feeling for these first few months, but hopefully things are soon changing. The morning sickness has gone away and I'm definately not as tired as I used to be. If I could just get these headaches under control things would definately be a lot better.

Anyway, here is a picture of our little new addition at 9 weeks old. Doesn't look like a whole lot but we think he/she is pretty darn cute already!!

Weekends with the Nephews

Well, after a long break from blogging, I decided that I better get back on the scene. Chris and I recently had a few visitors here at the house. First it was my oldest nephew Thomas. Grandma and Grandpa Schnackenberg brought him down for a weekend with us. Then this past weekend my other nephew Garret came down to visit. I think they both enjoyed their time here and had a good time. Chris taught them the challenging art of shooting a BB gun, and we also had some fun in the pool. It was great to have them visit and I hope they can come down again soon!!

Pool Time for the Kids

We've been trying to figure out a way to keep Max, our lab, out of our koi pond in the backyard. The Dr. I work with suggested we get a kiddie pool for him and let him lay around in that and see if he would stay out of the pond. So, today I went to good old WalMart and bought a kiddie pool and well...Max loved it. He first started drinking out of it like crazy. In his mind he was probably thinking "man this is the biggest water bowl I've ever seen!!". Then he just jumped right in and layed down and rolled around. I think it's a hit. Let's just see if it keeps him out of the pond!! Our little dog Bailey however, is a Miss Priss and didn't really care for it much.

Swim Time!!!

Well, Chris and I decided that since the weather was so beautiful the last few days, we would try out the pool for the first time. It was freezing cold at first, but after you got used to it, it was a nice way to beat the heat of the day. I took some video of Chris, well, being Chris. The first one is of his famous "belly flop" and the second is what he calls "the redneck resistance pool". I really don't have any control over what he does...honestly. It does make for some interesting days and neverending laughs. Hope you enjoy!!! Im sure after watching these you'll want to run right out and dive in the nearest pool!

Why I dislike Albert Pujols

Ok, so, since everyone in my family has been waiting for this blog post for sooooo long :) I decided it was time to sit down and tell you all about my dislike for Albert Pujols. I know I'll probably make enemies by saying this, but hey, it's a blog, it's my opinion...so here goes. Ok, for starters, I will not deny that he is a great baseball player, BUT, that doesn't mean he has to get treated sooooo special. If he makes a base running error, runs through signals or anything else he might do wrong...it's just fine and dandy. No one gets upset, no ones says "what the heck was he thinking?" NOOOOOO, because it's Albert Pujols. Any other player does that stuff and their criticized for it for the whole blasted game. Hence, reason #1. Also, I don't really buy into that "he's so great of a person" stuff that everyone always says. I think he likes to make people THINK he's that great so he can get more of the limelight. Hence, reason #2. Another thing, everyone says he isn't money hungry, well, yeah right. You can't tell me if they offered him less money he would stick around...I don't buy that one bit. He just wants people to think he's in it because he "loves the game". Come on, he wants money. Therefore, reason #3. Ok, well that about covers it....I just don't like him. There ya go!! I'm sure there will be some comments back on this one...so go ahead and let me hear it!

Monday, June 2, 2008

Well, this past weekend Chris and I went to Cole Camp for my dad's big retirement party. He retired after 45 years of school teaching. I must say, he is the absolute best teacher I have ever had and I'm not just saying that because he's my dad...it's just the simple truth. My whole family came down for the big event and it turned out great. He had a wonderful time which was what we all hoped for.
Since my whole family came down, yes, I did get picked on a little bit by my 2 brothers which is only natural. It's never good when they're both home together. That just means that I get double the grief! Anyway, it was great to be home and spend time with everyone!
Oh yeah, the blog about why I dislike Albert Pujols will be coming up in the future :)
Well, I guess that's enough for this post.

Here is a little sample of my "little kid" Chris playing around on his bike. Let me tell you, there is never a dull moment when he's around :)

Our Kids

Well since I mentioned before that Chris and I live with our 2 kids (our dogs) Max and Bailey, I figured I would put up some pics of them. Here they are sunning themselves in our backyard. That must be the life...eating, sleeping and playing.

These are just some of the flowers that are blooming around our house right now. It's pretty neat to see all of the different flowers that pop up around here. There's something new everyday it seems.

Early Birds

Well, today my crazy husband made me get up at 5:45 to EXERCISE!!! That's just insane in my book. I had to choose between lifting weights at the fitness center or going for a walk. Since my body was SOOOOOO weak from getting up before the sun, I decided that I might drop the weights on myself and do some major damage, so that being said, I chose the walk. I just have to say that I am FAR from being a morning person and this about put me over the edge. Of course Chris was smiling and being stupid because he just LOVES the morning. I really wanted to wipe that smile off his face if you know what I mean. So, end of the story, I walked and now I'm so physically fit I can barely stand myself :)

Lesa's Realization

This moring Lesa found out that Im not a nut case after all. Yesterday I told her that some purple flowers were out in the back yard but when she looked they were still buds. This morning they were in full bloom again, Imagine that. I told here that they were probably just morning bloomers but she just thought I had been in the sun too long.

Tuesday, May 13, 2008

Well, I decided that since everyone else in the known world has created a blog, I should hop on the bandwagon as well. There really isn't anything exciting that ever goes on in our little world, but hey if there ever is something, we'll be sure to let you all know. In the meantime, if you just want to send us a message or just comment on life in general, feel free. Chris usually has many random thoughts throughout the day, so I'm sure he'll be more than happy to let you all know about them :) Until then, post away!
