The Drag

Madison has become very interested in playing with our dog Bailey in the past few days. Here is a little video of Maddie and Bailey playing tug of war. I had a hard time holding the camera still because I was laughing so hard. Madison holds on tight and is very determined to not let go.

Those darn ears!!

Madison had a unexpected trip to the Dr today. She had been running a low grade temperature at daycare last week, but was acting fine. Then over the weekend she developed quite the snotty/congested nose, runny eyes and cough. The poor little thing has been having a hard time breathing while eating and sleeping and just looks plain miserable. So, I decided that I had better take her to the Dr this morning and make sure she didn't have an ear infection brewing as well...and she does. The Dr also informed be that because she's had 3 ear infections since July, we need to think about tubes in her ears if she gets another one soon. Not really what I wanted to hear, but if it would help I'm for it. So, she's on an antibiotic for the next 14 days and hopefully it will knock it out. She goes back next Tuesday for her 9 month checkup (which I can't believe!) I'm not really wanting to think she's 9 months old already. Where has my little girl gone??
There will be another post after her checkup!

HAPPY FALL!

Madison has been doing all sorts of new things lately. She has added "Mamama" and "Dadada" to her vocabulary. I'm sure she doesn't know what they mean yet, but at least she says them now. She also has started some clapping, espcially after she sees us clapping. Also, the other day she sat up from a laying down position which surprised her a little bit I think. The funny thing is that the other night around
2am I heard Madison crying and fussing. After about 10 minutes I went in to try to calm her down and pat her back to sleep. Well, I walked into her room to find her sitting up in the middle of her bed with her pacifier in her mouth half asleep. I think she sat up and couldn't figure out how to lay back down. I layed her back down and she fell right asleep. It was pretty cute. She is also a pro at the army crawl and dashes across the living room floor very fast. There is nothing safe around her anymore. She is such a funny girl and all the workers at daycare love her. She still seems to be having a lot of fun there as well and is always playing and happy when I come to pick her up which makes me feel good. I'm sure there will be a lot of more new things to report very shortly. It seems like she does something or says something new everyday.

Love my hats!!

Here are two of the crocheted hats I've made Madison today. I have seen these in the stores and I figured I could try to make them myself. I don't think they look half bad and they're a lot cheaper as well.

Creeping around!

Madison has just recently learned the creep...otherwise known as the army crawl. She's pretty good at it I must say. She loves going after blocks that are stacked up and knocking them over. I think she's going to be crawling before we know it!

A visit to Little Rock

This past weekend we took a trip to Little Rock, AR for Madison's cousin Josh's Baptism. We were kind of dreading the car ride down there, but Madison did great! She slept and played and stayed happy so we were thankful for that. The weekend was great! Madison got to spend time with her Aunts and Uncles and cousins and got to meet her new baby cousin Joshua (who is absolutely adorable!!). It was great to see all the family and spend time with them. Here are a few pictures from the weekend.

Growing girl!

I haven't updated the site in a while because things have been crazy around the house the past few weeks. We had to nurse Madison through croup, bronchitis and an ear infection, which was not fun in the least. Let's just say that Prednisone was not Madison's friend. She was evil while she was on that medicine. Thank goodness that's over with and she's been feeling much better. She's been having fun back at daycare and loving spending the days with her new friends there. She's adapting very well to daycare life. However, I think mommy still has some trouble adapting :)
She seems to not want to crawl since she can go anywhere and get anything she wants by the rolling method. She just rolls and rolls and rolls until she gets where she wants to go. Hopefully she'll get those little legs and arms working together and we'll get a crawl sometime soon.
On the tooth front...we still have none. She's still drooling like crazy and has a bib permanently attached to her. She bites on everything which makes me believe they're down there somewhere, but who knows when they'll make their big appearance.
Here are a few pictures from the past week.

Cole Camp Fair fun

This past weekend was Madison's first experience with the famous Cole Camp Fair! Even though she was sick with the croup, she did seem to have a little fun. She rode on the pink elephants with both Garret and Grandma Schnackenberg. She didn't really know what to think at first, but she loved to look at the lights and didn't seem to mind the ride too much! I'm sure she'll have more fun next year when she can eat a famous Cole Camp Fair corndog!

Yes, there's that Pujols shirt again!

Maddie and her friend Bailey

Madison loves to get down on the floor and "play" with Bailey. She especially loves to tug on her hair and tail. Bailey, as you can see, just lays there and takes the abuse :) This past weekend while we were in Cole Camp for the fair Madison got a hold of Bailey's leash and she was loving every minute of yanking Bailey around. We were proud of Bailey...she just sat there. The poor dog gets drug around by Maddie's cousin Emma when she visits, and now Maddie is learning to go after her as well. Poor Bailey!!
And yes, that is a Pujols shirt Madison is wearing....thank you Uncle Brad, Aunt Laura and Cousin Emma!

All Clean!

Madison still loves bathtime!! She loves to sit in her tub and play with her bathtoys and kick her legs and splash the water everywhere. I'm waiting for the day when she cries when bathtime is over! Here she is all clean after her bath. As you notice the bright red drool rash under her chin. We just can never seem to get rid of that since her mouth is a little faucet that drips drool constantly!!

7 Months Old

Madison is 7 months old today! It just doesn't seem possible that she is this big already. She is sitting up all by herself now with no problems at all. She does have the occasional lack of balance and topples over, but it doesn't seem to bother her any. She is trying very hard to crawl however we're just not there yet. She is having fun at daycare and the workers there say she is adjusting very well. She is super nosey and loves to interact and watch the other kids and so yesterday she only had a 20 minute nap all day. Fun huh?
Happy 7 month Madison!!!

All Tuckered Out!

Today was Madison's first day at daycare. Needless to say, Mommy had a VERY hard time with that today. I did well until I left the building then I broke down and cried. Madison however, did really good. When I got there the daycare worker took Madison from me and sat her on the floor in front of a big pail of toys. Madison proceeded to reach out and grab some toys and start playing. The other kids in the room are crawlers and Madison didn't really know what to think about all of that. She was giving the other babies a "what are you doing?" look the entire time. It was hilarious!
When I picked her up this afternoon the daycare said that she was a little fussy today, but that was to be expected because of the new environment. She had a huge smile on her face when she saw me at the door though, so that made Mommy feel MUCH better!
We all went on a walk tonight, which has become our nightly routine, and Madison fell asleep on the way back to the house at 6:45. She had a long day and it tuckered her out good!!

Our First House

On August 13th Chris and I closed on our first house. We are VERY excited about being first time homeowners. We haven't moved completely into the house yet as we are doing some painting and improvements in the house first. We started with Madison's room which we painted pink of course! We added new white trim in the room, white closet doors and a white door to her room. It really looks great! Grandpa Schnackenberg came down to help with the renovations which was a HUGE help. Grandma Schnackenberg got the privlege of taking care of Madison while the men were working :) I don't think she minded that too much! Starting tomorrow we are moving the rest of our things over to the house and hopefully we will be completely in by this weekend. Lots of work to do but it's fun and exciting!! I'll be sure to post some pictures when I get time :)

Playtime

Madison loves to be on the floor playing. She especially loves playing with her blocks and it's even more fun when she's naked :)

Miss Droopy Drawers :)

Green beans....Yummy ?!?!?!?!

Madison just recently entered the world of solid food. We started with rice cereal which she really didn't mind. Then a week or so after that we started with green beans for dinner. She didn't seem to mind them at first, but after about the 3rd or 4th bite we started getting the faces. She kept opening her mouth for them so it couldn't have been that bad. After the green beans we moved onto adding bananas to her cereal in the mornings and that is a HUGE hit. She can't get enough of those! It's early, but it looks like she's going to be a pretty good little eater!

Madison had her 6 month check up and shots at the Dr this week and she did really good. She screamed like crazy while she was getting her shots, but immediately after that, I picked her up and she quieted right down. She is now 15 lbs 8 oz and 25 1/2 inches long. She is in the 40th percentile on both height and weight. She is in the 70% percentile for head circumference, but that's just because she has a huge brain!! He said she was doing good and that he could feel some bottom teeth down there and they would hopefully show themselves in the next month. All in all, she's growing like a little weed and we're enjoying every minute of it!!

6 months old!!

Madison is 6 months old today!! I can't believe my little baby is a half of a year already!! Where has the time gone. I still remember like it was yesterday seeing her for the first time and thinking how beautiful she was. That hasn't changed a bit! I think she is just a beautiful little angel.
She is trying very very hard to sit up on her own and almost has that tackled. She scoots around on her tummy but still doesn't have it all together to crawl. I'm sure that will happen before we know it and then watch out! She still doesn't have any teeth, but I have to believe they're not far away. Of course I've been saying that since she was four months old! She's still not sleeping the whole night through, but hopefully that is around the corner as well. She usually goes to bed around 8pm and wakes up wanting to eat around 4am, then she's good until around 6:30. It's really not a bad schedule, I would just welcome the uninterrupted sleep!
I'll try to be better about blogging more often, I obviously haven't been the greatest at that lately, but I promise I'll try!

Splish Splash

Madison has loved taking baths since she came home from the hospital and it hasn't changed yet. She loves sitting in the bathtub and sucking on her rubber ducky and splashing her feet around. I have never had her cry while in the bath. Anymore she hangs on to the sides of her bathtub when I start to take her out of it, which makes it very difficult to get the slippery baby out. I'm glad she loves her bath and hopefully this will turn into a love of being in the water in general!

Meeting the Shoemakers

This weekend Madison had her first visit with Aunt Dusti, Pete and Stormie!! It has been FAR too long since I've spent any time with Dusti and she had never met Madison yet. Madison loved her visitors and I think Stormie thought quite a bit of baby Madison as well. The time always goes by too fast when visiting with those you love and I can't wait until we get to spend time with them again!! We all miss them very much! Here are a few pictures from the weekend.

5 Months Old

Madison turned 5 months old this past Friday (the same day as her Mommy turned 30!) She is growing up so fast and accomplishing so many new things. I just can't believe she's getting so big!! She now weighs 14 lbs 6 oz which is a far cry from the 5 lbs 11 oz when she was born. It's hard to believe now that she was ever that little! Madison now loves to play with her feet and toes and LOVES to watch our little dog Bailey. She will stare at her and follow her around the room and laugh so hard at her sometimes. Madison also claimed her independence on Independence Day! She now rolls from her back to her tummy. Beings that she has been rolling from her tummy to her back for about the past month, I guess this means she's all rolled out now. Don't even try putting her on her back to stay there because it won't happen. She will immediately roll to her tummy and she's pretty quick at it too. I also believe that we're going to have a little jabberjaws on our hands. She loves to talk and blow bubbles and she can get pretty carried away with it at times. Here is a picture from over the weekend at Grandma and Grandpa Schnackenberg's house.
And again pictures from this past weekend are still coming!!

By the way there will be more pictures added of the 4th of July weekend very soon!

Fun in the Sun!

Yesterday afternoon we introduced Madison to her baby pool. We figured the weather was definately warm enough for a little swim in the pool. Madison loves her bath time so much we figured she would love sitting around in her pool. We were right! Aside from the chilly water that would take her breath away every little bit, she was all smiles. I think the pool was a hit!!
